Topic: Engaging the Turnaround Power of Faith (Part 4A)
Speaker: Bishop David Oyedepo
Faith is a spiritual virtue with turnaround forces embedded in it.
When faith takes the stage, things are bound to change for good.
Every aspect of faith is work. Faith without corresponding action is dead.
What is Faith?
- Faith is not a religious idealogy but a spiritual mystery that transmits divine strength.
1 Tim 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
Heb. 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
- Faith is not a principle nor a strategy; it is a spiritual weapon that intervenes in the realm of the unseen.
Eph. 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
- Faith is not a belief system; it is engaging the power of God.
1 Cor. 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
The worth of your faith determines the quality of your life.
There is no surgical intervention that can rescue one from the oppressions of the devil.
There is no cure for breaking generational curses.
Only Jesus is the answer to all issues of life.
Refuse to lose your identity to the environment.
Build your faith, starve your doubt and live a triumphant life.
Don’t be enslaved by science; come alive by faith!
The only way to stop the harassment of the enemy is to engage your faith.
Faith is what facilitates your access to grace. It is faith that makes great.
The righteousness that thrives is the one that is obtained by faith.

How Powerful is Faith?
- Every great story in the Kingdom is by grace through faith. –
Eph. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
- Faith provokes the healing power of God that makes you whole.
Luke 8:48-49 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
- Faith has the power to subdue scientific facts.
John 11:39-44 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
1 Tim. 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
- Faith has the power to suspend natural laws.
Exo. 16:8 And Moses said, This shall be, when the Lord shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the Lord heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the Lord.
Heb. 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
- Faith has the power to set you free from the law of sin and death.
Rom. 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Isa. 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
How to Keep Your Faith Growing

- Through testimonies.
Ps 119:111,114 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
– To keep your faith going, you must crave the understanding of your testimonies and that of others.
- Beware of going after other gods.
James 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Ps 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
– The devil has nothing good in store for you; if he gives you anything, he takes it back in seven-folds.
Terms of the Covenant of Longevity
- Be born again.
1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
– The unsaved is seen as spiritually dead. Life begins with salvation.
- Stay in love with God.
Ps 91:15-16 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
– Keeping the love alive positions you for a good old age.
- Stay committed to serving God and the interest of His kingdom.
Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Ps. 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
– Serving God and the interest of the Kingdom prolongs your days.
- Live free from the fear of death. –
Prov 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
Heb 2:14-15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
– Every believer is a victim of their fear, and faith is the cure for fear, not boldface.
- Be committed to a life of joy and rejoicing.
– Strength is a vital factor in determining your longevity, and to keep the covenant of long life multiplying in your life, you must remain grateful to God.
- When challenged, take up the shield of faith to quench the harassment of the spirit of death.
