When you stop giving God thanks, things start going down.
“And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.”
“If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.” Malachi 2:1 – 2.
“And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.”
“And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.” Acts 12:22 – 23.
For everything, give thanks to God so things don’t go down. In everything, give thanks so things will keep going up. Murmuring is a trap of the enemy; it exposes the believer to the destroyer.
“Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.” 1 Corinthians 10:10.
“And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.” Numbers 11:1.
Until you stop complaining, things keep complicating!
When you are committed to thanksgiving, you have committed God to do more because God does more when you thank Him for the one He did before.
No one stagnates with thanksgiving; instead, one keeps changing levels as one gives God thanks.
Every blessing attracts opposition but thanksgiving makes God take over one’s battles hence, thanksgiving is a vital key for continuous Church growth and expansion. Every blessing. Attracts the wicked gnashing their teeth but thanksgiving provokes God to take over our battle.
“And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” 2 Chronicles 20:22.
“The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.” Psalms 112:10.
We owe God thanks for keeping the church growing.
“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.” Jeremiah 30:19.
Thanksgiving carries more weight than intercessions!
Things multiply with Thanksgiving but dwindle without it.
Skills do not guarantee a future, everyone grows by grace.
“For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.” Ecclesiastes 9:12.
We are who we are by grace and we grow in grace by appreciating God.
The outcome of every Word is a function of the depth of your understanding. The manifestation of the word is a result of our understanding. Thank God with understanding because anything done without understanding generates nothing.
“But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew 13:23.
The Cost of Thanklessness
1. It can turn glory into shame.
“And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.”
“If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.”
“Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.” Malachi 2:1 – 3.
2. It can stop your way forward.
“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?”
“There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”
“And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.” Luke 17:17-19.
3. It can lead you into captivity.
“Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.”
“Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.”
“But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.” Jeremiah 13:15 -17.
4. It destroys just as pride does.
“Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.” Psalms 28:5.
5. It stops prophecies from being fulfilled.
Thanklessness is pride but thanksgiving is a vital requirement for experiencing the fulfilment of prophecy.
Only the living can praise the Lord!
