Dear Reader,
Peace and blessings be multiplied unto you in Jesus name. I thank God who has kept you and every member of your family to see the last month in the year 2019. I am confident that He who began this good work in your life will surely bring it to pass it in Jesus mighty name. Today, I shall be exploring the topic “Gratitude Secures God’s blessings”.
What is gratitude
According to the dictionary, gratitude is the feeling of being grateful and wanting to express your thanks. This shows that you cannot be grateful and not be thankful. Gratitude is, therefore, giving glory to God for His mighty deeds in your life and family (Luke 17:11-19). Every time you see the finger of God it requires the praise of man. The way you anticipate God’s blessing that is the same way God anticipates your gratitude.
You must recognise that it is a great thing for you to be alive today and it is something worth thanking God for. Some of you may say Oh! I had planned to achieve this and that this year, but see where I am today. You may not have been able to achieve all that you planned at the beginning of the year, but thank God you are not where you used to be. The Bible says, Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:20).
Gratitude is the master key to attaining all that God still has in stock for you. To really experience His blessing, we must come to Him with thankful hearts. Why not take time out today to express gratitude for all that He has done for you and every member of your family. Maybe your house was burglarized, or you lost any of your property, perhaps you lost your job, be thankful that you did not lose your life. As someone rightly said, “if you cannot be thankful for what you receive, be thankful for what you escaped”. When there is life, there is hope.
Let us take a look at the life of Jesus. He is a remarkable example for us in many ways but one was in thanksgiving. Even though He was God and didn’t have to give thanks for anything, but he often did. You must understand that ingratitude is a sin. A man who is ungrateful is a man whose heart is cold towards God, one who disregards His love and mercy. No wonder someone said that an ungrateful man cannot see great things. That is not your portion in Jesus name.
Find that position of praise today if you want to experience the great hand of God in your life and family. Cultivate a natural response of thanksgiving, not just for this month, but in all times. Psalm 34:35 says I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.1 Thessalonian 5:16-18 also tells us to, Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. This clearly shows that thanksgiving is God’s will concerning you and when you do the will of God, you are entitled to His promise (Hebrews 10:36). What is that promise of God that you have been holding on to, thanksgiving is what is required to receive it!
As a family, don’t ever forget to give God the glory that is due to Him. For the good things in your home, constantly acknowledge the hand of God and give Him the glory. Always remember that your home is still standing by the enabling power of God.
You must understand that the depth of your gratitude determines the depth of God’s blessings in your life and family. Do you want to experience His blessings in your family in the year 2020? Then learn to appreciate God for what He did in the year 2019.
The scripture says only the living can praise God (Isaiah 38:19). Before you can appreciate God, you must first be born again. If you are not yet born again and you desire to do so right now, please pray this prayer with faith in your heart: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).
